Business insurance · Idaho & Washington
Coverage that matches the business you actually run.
Tell us a little about the business. We reply within one business day.
Most small business policies were bought once, renewed on autopilot, and never checked against the leases and contracts signed since. We review what you have, show you the gaps, and shop the market as an independent broker.
Core coverage: BOP · General liability · Professional liability · Workers comp · Cyber · Umbrella
What a renewal skips
Three things we check that an auto-renewal never does.
Renewals copy last year's policy forward. Your business did not stay still, so we start from how it runs today.
Your real values
Equipment bought, space renovated, revenue grown. We rebuild property and income limits from current numbers, so a coinsurance clause cannot shrink your claim.
Your contracts
Leases, client agreements, and GC subcontracts spell out insurance requirements. We read them and confirm the policy has the endorsements they demand.
You, the owner
Business and personal coverage bought from two people who never talk leave gaps in the middle. Trella writes both, so they fit together.
Coverage
The policies a business actually runs on.
Plain explanations of what each policy covers, what it leaves out, and where owners most often get caught.
Business Owners Policy
Property, liability, and lost income bundled into one policy. The right starting point for most small businesses.
Learn moreGeneral Liability
Injury and property damage claims from customers, clients, and the public. The policy most contracts require.
Learn moreProfessional Liability (E&O)
Claims that your advice, work, or service cost a client money. Excluded from every BOP and GL policy.
Learn moreWorkers Comp (Idaho)
Required for most Idaho employers from the first employee. Bought from private carriers or the State Insurance Fund.
Learn moreWorkers Comp & Stop-Gap (WA)
Washington workers comp runs through L&I. Stop-gap covers the lawsuits L&I does not.
Learn moreCyber Liability
Ransomware, data breaches, and wire fraud. The claim small businesses are now most likely to file.
Learn moreCommercial Umbrella
Extra liability limits above your GL, auto, and employers liability, usually at a lower cost per dollar.
Learn moreCommercial Property
Buildings, equipment, inventory, and improvements, valued at what it would really cost to replace.
Learn moreTools, Equipment & Business Income
Tools at job sites and in vehicles, equipment breakdown, and the income you lose while you rebuild.
Learn moreEmployment Practices Liability
Wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, and retaliation claims from employees and applicants.
Learn moreDirectors & Officers
Personal protection for founders, directors, and officers when management decisions are challenged.
Learn moreCommercial Auto
Vehicles your business owns, plus liability when employees drive their own cars for work.

The Remodeler Who Couldn't Start the Job Until His Certificate Matched the Contract
A kitchen and bath remodeler landed his biggest subcontract yet, then learned his general liability policy was missing three endorsements the contract required. Here is how the gap got closed before day one.
GLUmbrellaAutoTechnologyThe Term Sheet Said D&O. The Founders Had Two Weeks.
Two founders were closing a seed round with a new outside board member. The term sheet required directors and officers coverage before closing, and the review found two other policies their first enterprise customer would soon ask for.

A seventy-seat restaurant had its building and equipment insured. The review found a business income limit that would run out long before a serious fire could be repaired, and liquor exposure the policy excluded.

A twelve-person accounting firm had professional liability for errors in its work. The review found a claims-made trap in its switch of carriers, and a wire fraud exposure its E&O policy was never designed to cover.

A growing landscaping company added trucks, trailers, and drivers faster than it updated its insurance. The review found undisclosed vehicles, an unlisted driver with a bad record, and equipment nobody had insured.

What business owners say after a review.
“We run a small contracting business and our old policy left us exposed on a couple of jobs. Trella found better general liability and tools coverage with another carrier and got it done quickly. Felt like they actually looked at how we work instead of just filling out a form.”
“As a professional services firm, we needed solid professional liability and general liability that would satisfy client contract requirements. Trella took the time to understand our exposure, compared options across their carrier panel, and delivered a tailored commercial program without the usual sales pressure. Responsive and knowledgeable.”
“We manage several rental properties and previously had a messy patchwork of landlord policies. Trella put coverage across the whole portfolio: commercial property, liability, and loss of rents, so everything works together. The process was thorough and the end result is simpler and stronger than what we had.”
“Our previous agent never really explained anything. Trella walked us through what we actually had, showed us where we were light on commercial property and liability, and found better options. We ended up with stronger coverage and didn’t feel sold to.”
“Needed commercial property and general liability for our Bellevue office and operations. Trella’s team was fast (true 24-hour response), asked smart questions about our actual risks, and came back with options from multiple carriers. We ended up with stronger protection at a competitive price. Professional from start to finish.”
“We’re a growing consulting firm and our liability needs kept changing. Trella helped us get the right professional and general liability limits without overbuying. They checked in again six months later when we hired more people. That follow-up mattered.”
“Switched our business insurance last year after a claim almost went sideways with our old carrier. Trella found us better commercial property and liability terms and made the transition painless. Claims process this year was smooth, which is really what you care about.”
“Real estate investors need portfolio-level thinking, not separate policies that don’t talk to each other. Trella delivered exactly that: landlord coverage, commercial property, and liability structured across our properties with consistent terms and proper limits. Clear process and solid results.”
“I own a couple of small retail locations. Trella cleaned up our commercial package, fixed under-insurance on the buildings, and got us better liability limits. Straightforward, no jargon overload, and they actually returned calls. Good experience.”
How it works
A review first. A recommendation second. No pressure either way.
Send what you have
Your current declarations pages, plus any lease or contract with insurance requirements. A 20 minute call fills in the rest.
We review and shop
You get a written summary of gaps and overlaps. If changes make sense, we take your business to the carriers that fit it.
We stay on it
Certificates, new locations, new vehicles, new hires, and an honest review before every renewal.
One broker, both sides
Your business and your household, insured by people who compare notes.
Owners are the most exposed people in any lawsuit against their company. Trella started as a personal insurance brokerage for high-asset households, so we build the commercial umbrella and the personal umbrella together, and make sure LLC property, company vehicles, and your own limits leave nothing in between.
Where the two sides usually collide
- A vehicle titled to the business, driven on weekends
- Rental properties moved into an LLC, insurance left in your name
- A personal umbrella that excludes all business activity
- A liquidity event that raises your personal exposure overnight
For home, auto, and personal umbrella, see Trella Insurance.
Common questions
What does an independent commercial insurance broker do?
An independent broker works for you, not for one insurance company. We compare coverage from multiple carriers, match it to the contracts and leases you have signed, and handle certificates, changes, and renewals through the year.
What does the free policy review include?
We read your current declarations pages and policy forms, compare the limits to your real property values, revenue, and contracts, and give you a written summary of gaps, overlaps, and anything a contract requires that the policy does not provide. There is no charge and no obligation to move your coverage.
How does Trella Commercial get paid?
Like most brokers, we are paid a commission by the insurance company when a policy is placed. The review itself costs you nothing.
Can you issue certificates of insurance quickly?
Yes. Certificate requests are part of the service, including additional insured endorsements when a contract requires them. Send us the contract language and we will confirm the policy actually matches it.
Where do you write business insurance?
Trella is licensed in Idaho and Washington and works with businesses across both states. Our office is in Bellevue, Washington, and everything we do (reviews, quotes, certificates, renewals) works by phone, email, and video, wherever your business is.
